Native American from the Mohican tribe. Writer, Peer Specialist, YouTube Partner.

The Mohican tribe

used to live in New York

along the Hudson River Valley.

I am descended from Chief John Konkapot

Captain in George Washington’s

Army during the Revolutionary War.

However, when Chief Konkapot returned

to his people along with the other Mohican men

who fought for the US we discovered that

all our land was taken.

The Mohican tribe was forced to move

to Stockbridge, Massachusetts where

they developed a mission and became

known as the praying Indians.

We brought with us the New Amsterdam bibles.

Then we lost that land and had to move to Oneida, NY.

Then we were forced out of there and onto our own

Trail of Tears westward to Wisconsin.

My tribe’s location today is outside Bowler, WI.
